Celebrities and fashion trends go hand-in-hand. Sometime celebrities start a trend and sometime they support a trend. The best place to see them in all their glory is of course during any red carpet event. It may be only the third month of the year, but with a host of award ceremonies that has been held, a clear picture of the fashion trends that is going to rule 2011 is already quite clear. So to help you incorporate those looks in your wardrobe this year, here are the top trends seen on your favorite celebrities gracing the red carpet:
Belts: Belts are very much in fashion as evident from the styles seen on such events as Golden Globe Awards and the 83rd Annual Academy Award. The trend was first spotted in the Golden Globe Award night with Jennifer Love Hewitt sporting an embellished belt on a strapless gown that had detailing on bodies designed by Ramona Keveza. Sofia Vergara of "Modern Family" wore a strapless gown, dark fuchsia in color with a slim black belt. This outfit was designed by Vera Wang. The style continued in Oscar night with Gwyneth Paltrow wearing a beautiful Luis Vuitton brooch on her belt with her Calvin Klein column dress. This trend however appeared in full force in the Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG Award) night with nearly 6 actresses wearing dresses with belts. One of the best dresses among them was Mila Kunis who was wearing an Alexander McQueen gown, red in color with abstract print and a belt that clinched her waist and adding height to her petite figure.
Rouched and Feathered Textures: Feathers are very much in fashion for summer/spring 2011 as seen in various collections of leading designers. Celebrities also supported this trend with Hillary Swank wearing a beautiful gown with ostrich feather skirt from Gucci in Academy Award. In the Vanity Fair Oscar Party held after the Award ceremony, actress Naomi Watts came in a Zac Posen gown that had feather details on the train. In SAG Awards, Tina Fey, Amber Reily, Jenna Ushkowitz and Angie Harmon were seen wearing dresses that were either with feathers or with rouched textures. In Golden Globe award, Julie Bowen of "Modern Families" was seen in a dove gray Tadashi Shoji gown that had the same texture.
Skinny ties: Men have very limited choice when it comes to red carpet event as there are very few things you can change about a classic tux. Still, some of them came sporting some new trends which will surely be copied for the rest of the year. One was skinny tie, a retro look that found many takers as evident from such events as Golden Globe and Academy Award. Justin Beiber, Mark Salling from "Glee" and teenage heartthrob Zac Efron were seen wearing this type of neck tie in the Golden Globe awards while Jesse Eisenberg from "The Social Network" wore a skinny tie with his slim black tux in Academy Award night. Russell Brand went a step forward and wore his skinny tie with a black and navy suit and horizontal striped shirt which stood quite apart from the black and white tux seen on most male celebrities in Oscar night. The trend continued in the SAG Award night with Justin Timberlake and his compatriot from "The Social Network", Andrew Garfield both wearing skinny ties with their tux. However, Justin's black and white stripped skinny tie was a bit edgier than others.
The fashion trends endorsed by celebrities in such red carpet events are not that hard to follow. But there is no need to sport all the look you see; just pick those that compliment your body type or age and you will be counted as one of the fashionistas of the world.
