HAUTE Couture Fashion Week commands outstanding looks and, when it came to the autumn/winter Couture Beauty 2011-12 catwalk shows, the maestros of the hair and make-up world certainly fulfilled that order.

Statement hair embellishments – from glittering jewels at Valentino to wild feathers at Alexis Mabille - were used to full effect at the majority of the Couture Beauty shows, making it the biggest trend of the fashion week.

This strongly mirrors what we saw on the ready-to-wear catwalks back in February, at shows such as Louis Vuitton, Nina Ricci and Marc Jacobs, indicating that an unadorned head is also an unfashionable one, come autumn/winter Couture Beauty 2011-12. Beneath the high-octane head wear, make-up looks were just as prominent.
Couture Beauty Metallic touches
Metallic touches added an otherworldly feel to pretty pink cheeks, eyes and lips at Valentino while bold colour ran amok across models’ faces at Christian Dior, and made a feature of the lips at Stephane Rolland and Gaultier With Couture Beauty.
